The Sierra de Andújar is one of the most important places in the world to observe and photograph the Iberian lynx.
Lynx activity changes throughout the year, with the breeding season taking place mainly between December and February. Cubs are most often seen during late spring and early summer, although every sighting depends on the animals, the season, and natural behaviour.
As with all wildlife, Iberian lynx sightings can never be guaranteed. However, this landscape remains one of the finest places in Europe to spend time in lynx territory and photograph one of the world’s rarest wild cats.
Finca El Encinarejo is home to the southernmost population of European bison in Europe.
For photographers, the bison offer something completely unexpected in southern Spain: large wild herbivores moving through a Mediterranean dehesa landscape of holm oaks, open hills, aromatic scrub, and seasonal light.
The breeding season generally brings increased interaction within the herd, while calves are most commonly seen from late summer into early autumn. The bison can be especially atmospheric to photograph in mist, golden light, winter weather, and wide landscape compositions.
September and October bring one of the most dramatic periods of the year.
During the rut, red deer and fallow deer become more active, vocal, and visible. The sound of stags calling across the landscape, the movement of animals through the hills, and the changing autumn light all make this a particularly powerful time for wildlife photography.
The river and wetland areas of the finca offer opportunities to photograph otters, water birds, amphibians, insects, and seasonal river life.
During the warmer months, photographers can also focus on butterflies, reptiles, wildflowers, insects, and macro photography. These smaller subjects are an important part of the finca’s biodiversity and often produce some of the most beautiful and unexpected images

The welfare of the animals comes first. We do not believe in pressuring wildlife, overcrowding sensitive areas, or forcing encounters. The aim is always to photograph natural behaviour in a way that protects the animals, respects the landscape, and allows photographers to experience the finca as a living wilderness reserve.
This is what makes photography here so special.
It is not only about the image you take home. It is about the time spent in the landscape, the patience required, the silence before something appears, and the privilege of witnessing wild animals on their own terms.
