No. Finca El Encinarejo is not a traditional hotel. The lodge is offered on an exclusive-use basis, meaning guests book the whole lodge rather than individual rooms. This allows families, friends, photographers, retreat groups, or private guests to enjoy the lodge, shared spaces, meals, and experiences without sharing them with other guest groups.

No. Finca El Encinarejo is offered as an exclusive-use lodge only. This means the entire lodge is reserved for one booking at a time, whether you are travelling alone, as a couple, as a family, or as a group of up to eight guests. Guests are welcome to use as much or as little of the lodge as they wish, but the lodge is always booked as a whole.

The lodge sleeps up to eight guests across four luxury en-suite bedrooms. Each room has its own private entrance and outdoor space, while guests share the main lounge, dining room, kitchen, covered veranda, outside bar, boma area, and surrounding lodge spaces.

Exclusive use means your group has the lodge experience to yourselves. There are no other lodge guests sharing your dining room, lounge, outdoor areas, bar, fire pit, meals, or planned experiences. It allows for privacy, flexibility, and freedom to enjoy the finca at your own pace.

For lodge stays, retreats, private events, and general enquiries, guests can contact Finca El Encinarejo directly. Because every stay is personal and the lodge is exclusive use, bookings are handled directly rather than through an automated system.

Yes. Finca El Encinarejo is located in the Sierra de Andújar, one of the most important places in the world to observe and photograph the Iberian lynx. Iberian lynx are present on the finca and in the wider landscape. Sightings are possible, especially with time, patience, and expert guidance, but they can never be guaranteed.

The Iberian lynx breeding season usually takes place around December and January, when activity can increase. Cubs are most often seen in late spring and early summer, although sightings always depend on the animals, the season, weather, territory, and natural behaviour.

No. Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed. Finca El Encinarejo is a wilderness reserve, not a zoo or staged photography location. The animals are wild, and every encounter depends on season, weather, behaviour, patience, and natural movement.

Yes. Finca El Encinarejo is home to the southernmost population of European bison in Europe. The herd arrived in 2020 as part of a privately funded conservation initiative and continues to be monitored through expert guidance, veterinary care, research, and responsible habitat management.

Yes. Finca El Encinarejo offers wildlife photography experiences in partnership with Natureroots. Photographers may have opportunities to photograph Iberian lynx, European bison, Spanish imperial eagle, golden eagle, vultures, otters, deer, foxes, smaller mammals, birds, reptiles, butterflies, and the wider Mediterranean landscape.

Yes, wildlife photography day experiences may be possible by prior arrangement through Natureroots. Finca El Encinarejo is not open for casual day visits, but specialist photography visits, photographic safaris, hides, and guided wildlife photography experiences may be arranged in advance.

Yes. Finca El Encinarejo is well suited to wildlife photography groups, photography courses, workshops, and specialist nature photography trips. The finca offers 1,000 hectares of Mediterranean wilderness, photography hides, free-range wildlife photography opportunities, expert local knowledge, and exclusive-use lodge accommodation for groups who wish to stay on the property.

Wildlife photography experiences are offered in partnership with Daniel Risueño and the Natureroots team. Natureroots brings specialist knowledge of wildlife photography, ethical fieldcraft, animal behaviour, photography hides, free-range photography, and the Sierra de Andújar landscape.

Yes. Finca El Encinarejo has photography hides that offer carefully managed opportunities for species such as Iberian lynx and birds of prey. Hides are only one part of the photography experience. The finca also offers free-range wildlife photography from vehicles, on foot, and across the wider reserve, depending on the season, the species being targeted, and the photographer’s interests.

Free-range wildlife photography means photographing wildlife naturally across the wider landscape rather than only from hides. At Finca El Encinarejo, photographers may work from vehicles or on foot across the 1,000 hectare reserve. Some of the most memorable encounters happen unexpectedly, such as a lynx crossing a track, bison moving through mist, otters along the river, or birds of prey overhead.

Photographers may have the opportunity to photograph Iberian lynx, European bison, red deer, fallow deer, foxes, otters, wild boar, rabbits, genets, badgers, Egyptian mongoose, birds of prey, owls, vultures, bee-eaters, hoopoes, reptiles, butterflies, pollinators, and many smaller species. The species photographed will depend on the season, weather, time of day, and natural wildlife movement.

During the all-inclusive season, guests can enjoy a fully catered stay with chef-prepared meals, drinks, housekeeping, laundry, guided experiences, and time in the wilderness reserve. The all-inclusive season is designed for guests who want to arrive, relax, and be completely looked after.

The all-inclusive high season runs from August to mid-May. This is the best time for cooler weather, wildlife activity, photography, boma dinners, fireside evenings, stargazing, long meals, and a fully hosted lodge experience.

The self-catering summer season runs from mid-May to the end of July. During this time, guests book the lodge on an exclusive-use self-catering basis and can enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, neighbouring Blue Flag dam, river access, outdoor activities, family time, and the long summer days of Andalucía.

No. The lodge does not have a swimming pool. However, Finca El Encinarejo is next to a Blue Flag recreational dam, where guests can enjoy swimming, water activities, and summer experiences depending on the season and local conditions.

Finca El Encinarejo is not open for casual day visits. Day photography, photographic safaris, or specialist wildlife experiences may be possible by prior arrangement through Natureroots. All visits must be booked in advance.
